Apple issued a statement delaying the launch of the AirPods at the last moment, saying it needed some more time to fine-tune the product. Apple did not give a release date and various reports suggested it will take a while and will likely miss out on the Christmas holiday season sales.
If the reports are accurate, the AirPods will take another three more months to be ready for the masses.
A week back, Apple released a statement saying they needed more time. An excerpt from that statement is as follows:
“The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers.”
Apple has not commented on the recent speculations.
The AirPods run on a completely new wireless technology developed by Apple. It features the W1 chip that allows for instant pairing with iOS devices. The W1 chip is also present in Apple’s Beats Solo 3 wireless and Powerbeats 3 wireless headphones.
AirPods come with a 5-hour battery life on each earbud and the carrying case that ships with the earbuds also double up as a charger with enough power to charge each buds for 24 hours of continuous use.
None of the report elaborate on what is taking Apple so long to ship the AirPods and neither does Apple’s statement for the same.
