The leaked photograph shows a Moto branded phone with stark similarities to the Moto Z. The heavily pixelated photo shows the fingerprint sensor and going by the Moto Z, it may not double up as the Home button. And more than this, no other detail is available.
Digit cites Techdroider saying this is not the new Moto X but a prototype of the upcoming Moto M Plus, set for a November 2016 release along with the Moto M. The Moto M is presumed to sport a 5.5-inch display and a MediaTek Helio processor. However, the Moto M Plus will have a 6-inch display and a Snapdragon processor going by the leaks.
Lenovo hasn’t started giving away any teasers for the Moto M devices yet, leading to speculation that the leaked image is of a new Moto X instead.
The last Moto X lineup was last refreshed in 2015 with the Moto X Play, Moto X Style and Moto X Force. The Moto X Play was aimed for the mid-range segment with a 5.5-inch full HD display, Snapgragon 615 processor and 2GB RAM. The Moto X Style was the 2015 flagship edition with a Snapdragon 808 processor, 5.7-inch 2K display and 3GB RAM while the Moto X Force was the rugged variant of the flagship with a ShatterShield 5.4-inch 2K display, Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM.
The Moto X Play has been replaced by the Moto Z Play in the mid-range category with a Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB RAM and a 5.5-inch full HD display. Because of this, the Moto X will probably have a difficult time to fit into the frame of things, if at all the Moto X is coming.
Moreover, the Moto G4 Plus is also Lenovo’s mid-range choice of phone and that will likely make things difficult for Moto X.
