A few days back, we had informed that Microsoft Surface Pro devices are coming to India on Jan 7, and Microsoft has today launched Surface Pro 4 in India for Rs 89,990. It is powered by a Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, and 128GB HDD.
Along with Surface Pro 4, Microsoft has also brought in the long-impending Surface Pro 3 to India, which is priced at Rs 73,990. For selling Surface Pro 3 and Pro 4, Microsoft has partnered with both online and offline retailers. While HCL would be its authorized device distributor in the country, Amazon India would be official eCommerce partner for selling devices. Orient, Frontier and Team would be its authorised device sellers in India. The pre-orders begin today and delivery would commence on January 14.

Interestingly, Surface Pro 3 would be available only for consumers but the Surface Pro 4 would be available for commercial buyers too.
The Surface Pro 4, which is a direct successor to the Pro 3 that never made it to India, is a device that can double up as your laptop and tablet both. It has a G5 chipset, designed by Microsoft and includes ‘up to’ 16GB of RAM, 1TB of solid-state storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5MP front camera and a larger trackpad on the keyboard accessory.
With it you will get a 12.3-inch PixelSense touchscreen display with 267ppi resolution, a 6th Gen Intel Core m3, i5, or i7 processor, and Windows 10 Pro. The Gorilla Glass adds to the sturdiness of the device, which has a backlit keyboard. To give people more real estate on the screen compared to the Surface Pro 3, Microsoft designers decided to reduce the bezel thickness, and aimed to give Surface Pro 4 the most accurate display ever made.

To ensure that Surface Pro 4 helps everyone, even designers and writers, be productive anytime, anywhere, the company is also offering a Surface Pen (stylus) along with the device. It supports 1024 pressure point, a tail eraser and has a one year battery life. You can even use the Surface Pen to open a OneNote or to activate Cortana, your truly personal digital assistant who offers time, people, and location-based reminders, and even books dinner reservations. Surface Pro 4 also packs the latest facial recognition camera technology; so you don’t need a fingerprint or password for security anymore.
However, the big question is: Will this device find many takers in India? It may. We sure would like to use the device as the company claims that Pro 4 is 30% faster than the Pro 3 and 50% faster than Macbook Air. We would like to put it to our test bed to validate these claims. Stay tuned!
