The image is that of a photograph of the packaging insert of the upcoming new iPhone and if that is to be believed, the top variant of the phone will come with 256GB of internal storage and will be called the iPhone 7 Plus. The smaller 4.7-inch sibling will have the typical iPhone 7 tag.
It also confirms that the new iPhone 7 will come without the 3.5mm port and to make up for it, Apple will bundle Earpods with Lightning connector in the box. But that’s not all. The iPhone 7 will also come bundled with a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack adaptor. If this is true, it will be a huge departure from Apple’s usual trend of selling accessories separately.
iPhone 7 owners will be able to plug in their 3.5mm headphones in the adaptor and use it to play music on their devices.
Also, the way Earpods are described as ‘Earpods with Lightning Connector’ suggests there won’t be upgrade to the quality of the headphone themselves, other than the change of ports. Apple had earlier trademarked the name ‘Airpods’ that suggest the company is making wireless EarPods, but that will be sold separately as additional accessories and not bundled.
The iPhone 7 is set to launch at a media press event on Wednesday September 7, along with the Apple Watch 2. While new MacBooks are rumored to release, sources say it won’t come out next week.
